#1 The Great Pottery Throw Down on HBO PLUS
I choose this as my #1 gift choice for potters because I love this show so much. Watching ceramic artists use their skills to produce different results is fascinating. It is a great show to watch even if you’re not a potter and a great way to get ideas and learn new crafting techniques. In addition, it’s refreshing to see how the contestants help and encourage each other. I found most potters to be like that in general.
Keith Brymer is a fantastic judge. He shows incredible passion for the craft and appreciates each Potter’s unique talent and the effort they put forth. He is one of the reasons I wanted to help other potters and continue to push through the struggles of being Dyslexic also. He inspired me to keep creating, learning and teaching others the art of crafting pottery.
So if you’re looking for a fantastic gift that your pottery crafter will love, be sure to check out The Great Pottery Throw Down. It is shown Originally on Channel 4 BBC first, and then it comes to HBO Plus Later.

If the Potter in your life loves to throw on the wheel, this Pottery Throwing Gauge is a fantastic gift. Pottery throwing can be a very precise art form, so having the right tools is essential. The Pottery Throwing Gauge will help to ensure that all the pieces are the same height and width. This makes it ideal for making dinner sets, production pottery, or any other pottery that needs to be a specific size.
Simply place the gauge next to the wheel, set the arms to the specific size, and throw the clay piece as usual.

#6 Pottery Wheel Bat
Pottery Wheel Bats are an excellent gift for someone who loves throwing clay on the Pottery Wheel. They are an essential tool for any potter, and they come in a variety of sizes and styles to suit any need. By considering the size of their Potter’s wheel, and the size of pieces they make, you can easily find the perfect bat for your favorite Potter.
Speedball Square Bat
A nice feature is the ability to keep a piece of wet Pottery on the Bat for a while. With wooden bats, you can’t leave your pottery on too long, or your bat will inevitably warp. There are many times that I have to cover my piece and finish it later. Having the ability to put it back on the wheel later is a big plus.
This Speedball Square Plastic Bat is 7-and-a-half-inches. It is made to fit 9 and 10-inch bat pins. The molded plastic is very durable and holds its shape. You will find that the Speedball Square Bat lasts a long time with proper care. It doesn’t shrink or swell or warp.
Here is the Speedball Square Bat
The Amaco Plasti-Bat
Amaco Plasti-Bats are made of high-impact plastic, making them hard to damage with a rough and smooth side. When taken proper care of, these Bats don’t warp. I have not had any warping with the four Plasti-Bats I own. They also don’t shrink or swell. I have had some for many years.
Most potters like to use the rough side of these bats. I like to use the smooth side also. You will find your clay will stick well to either side. Clean-up is fast; even dried-on clay removes easily; just wipe with a sponge, and you’re done.
The Plasti-Bat has ten-inch bat holes, which are pretty standard. They fit most major pottery wheel brands. If you throw a piece and don’t have time to design or alter it right away, these bats are great for altering a bit later.
